Auto-Free Ottawa is trying
to tame the urban automobile in Ottawa, Ontario (the capital of Canada).
Platform Binnenstad Autovrij
is working to make the center of Amsterdam a car-free paradise. Although
the residents of the inner city have supported this move, the city government
has done little to implement the necessary changes, despite its adoption
of policies to significantly reduce automobile traffic. English-language
summaries are available. (unfortunately, this page is in Dutch)
The CarFree group at
Yahoo is a place for those who are (trying to live) carFree (or
car-lite) in a car crowded world. (Not to be confused with the Carfree
Cities discussion group (sponsored by Carfree.com), also at Yahoo.)

Car Free Cities Network
is an initiative of Directorate General XI of the European Commission
(Environment). A number of European cities are actively trying to reduce
car usage by a variety of means. This is a source for information on
these efforts.
ISTP's
carfree housing page has had a major update and features seven case
studies of carfree housing projects, including Amsterdam, Cologne, Edinburgh,
Freiburg, Hamburg, and Vienna.
Car Busters Magazine helps
to unite, build, and maintain the international car-free movement, and
to inform, motivate, publicize and empower all groups and individuals
fighting against the car's dominance and destructiveness.
Bikesatwork.com designs and
sells trailers, pedicabs and more. They're generally more affordable
than other sources and their truss-style trailers are tried and true
in the SF Bay Area.
Workbike.org is a resource centre
for human powered transport of freight and people, with information
on the manufacturers and operators of work bikes and research into sustainable
human-powered transport.
Car-Free! , a modest
page of carlessness from A.P. Thornley (San Francisco, California).
Includes information on railroads, bicyling, lose-the-car, etc., in
the SF Bay Area and worldwide.
