Gulch and the Broadway-Brommer Connector Path
Controversy, controversy. . . . Amidst all the competing opinions about
the Broadway-Brommer Bike path, the Hub maintains the opinion that this
path would be a justifiable and wise use of our covetted greenspace,
if it is well conceived and implemented.
While the Hub supports the construction of the path, we do not support
the construction of a 12-foot-wide asphalt path. We have asked that
the city look into alternative paving materials and reduce the width
to the caltrans minimum of 8 feet. We have proposed that lighting not
be used on the path (just as the path through the great meadow at UCSC).
More detailed information about our position on the project and articles
will soon appear on this page.
